Sukie Curtis

Sukie Curtis loves to play with colors and lines, shapes and patterns, rhymes and rhythms using paint, pencil, pen and paper, words and keyboard. She finds daily inspiration and delight among the smells, sights, textures, and sounds of her local habitat near Casco Bay in southern Maine.
A former Episcopal priest, Sukie believes that fifty-five years is more than long enough to have mastered the art of following rules and being “good”--good daughter, good girl, good student, good priest. In 2008, after twenty-four years of ordained ministry, she formally left her ordination behind in order to follow new paths with clarity and freedom.
Now she’s learning to play in earnest! These days painting, drawing, collage, and blogging are her primary forms of joyful engagement with the world.
While Sukie has come to visual arts rather recently, she has been a writer all her life, is a published poet, and still enjoys the expressive and musical possibilities of words.
She shares images of her artwork, along with reflections about living with curiosity and wonder, in her blog “Trusting Delight”.
