Sukie Curtis
I paint primarily for the joy of it. I love playing with paint--mixing colors, pushing the paint around with my brush, palette knife, even fingers--seeing what happens in a process of discovery, intuition, a bit of trial and error and some happy accidents. Nearly always I start a new painting with a mixture of excitement and doubt, summoning courage (since there are no guarantees) and a commitment to show up and be open to what evolves. Always I hope that some measure of my own curiosity, amazement, joy, and quirky delight in being alive are communicated to the eyes and spirits of my those who look at my paintings.
I consider myself hugely fortunate and richly blessed to be a painter. Painting is a way for me to celebrate being alive on this astounding planet and to embody Mary Oliver’s words: “...all my life/ I was a bride married to amazement.”
I am also a writer and speaker, a spiritual director and a coach (after having been an Episcopal priest for twenty-four years). I love working with people who are ready to wonder and ask: "What would I do if I could do anything?" "What would I do if I knew I couldn’t fail?" I would be honored to assist you in learning to trust your own wisdom and to find your way through whatever holds you back. My blog can be found at http://trustingdelight.blogspot.com . I live in Cumberland with my husband, two daughters, and a small bunch of animals.
